[edit] Instructions

  1. Turn the car off and let it cool off
  2. Raise the hood
  3. Pull the dipstick and check the oil level and quality.
  4. Jack up the car
  5. Place drain pan under the oil drain plug (passenger side).
  6. Using the socket or spanner, loosen up the oil drain plug and remove it completely with your gloved hand.
  7. Wait until the oil drains completely into the drain pan.
  8. Examine the drain plug to see if it is in good condition. Also, if you have an aluminum or synthetic washer and if it got beat, get a new one.
  9. Remove the oil filter located under the exhaust manifold towards the top of the engine - easy to see on 4 cylinder but the 6 cylinder requires reaching between the radiator and manifold to access.
  10. Once filter is removed inspect old filter for the gasket, if is not present, check the mounting plate to make sure the gasket is not stuck to it or it would cause serious leak if it is.
  11. Wipe out any excess oil around the surfaces where the old oil filter was.
  12. Rub clean oil on the rubber and threads of the new oil filter to make sure it seals tight.
  13. Install the new oil filter on the cleaned area. Make sure you put the oil plug back on.
  14. Add new oil to your car.
  15. Test drive and check for leaks.
