[edit] Instructions

  1. Warm up the engine.
  2. Jack up the front of the car and place the car on jack stands.
  3. Place a container underneath the oil pan to catch the oil and remove the 14MM drain bolt from the oil pan. Be careful, the oil will still be hot.
  4. Remove the oil filter from the back of the engine block. A filter wrench can be used if you can’t get it by hand.
  5. Reinstall oil pan drain plug with new washer. Torque 22-29 foot pounds.
  6. Clean mating surface of oil filter. Make sure the old gasket is still on the old filter and not stuck to the mating surface on the block.
  7. Apply a coat of oil to the gasket of the new filter. Install the new filter by tightening until resistance is felt, then turning an addition 2/3 of a turn.
  8. Refill engine oil through the oil cap on the valve cover. It should take approximately 3 and 5/8 quarts.
  9. Start the car. The oil light should go out within a few seconds. If it does not turn the car off and investigate.
  10. Check for any oil leaks.
  11. Turn the car off. Wait a minute or two, then check the oil level on the dipstick.
