[edit] Tools Needed
- 10mm Socket Extension
- 4mm Allen Wrench
- Universal Joint
- Metric Sockets
[edit] Supplies Needed
- New Platinum Tipped NGK Plugs
- Dielectric Tune-up Grease
- 5/8 Spark Plug Socket
- A stick with a magnetic tip
- Anti-seize
[edit] Instructions
- Make sure your car is off and cool before you start this project.
- Remove engine cover by unscrewing four Allen screws
- Locate the coil packs and disconnect the wires to them. These will have a harness attached to them.
- Use the 10mm sockets to unbolt the bolt on the coil packs. It helps if you have a long extension.
- Pull out the coil after you remove the bolts.
- Insert the spark plug socket (5/8" or 16mm) with a long extension in the hole the coil pack was in and remove the plug. Repeat for all 6 spark plugs.
- Coat the threads of each spark plug with anti-seize and insert it back in.
- Coat the inside of the coil where it makes contact with spark plug with a thin layer of dielectric tune-up grease to minimize corrosion.
- Reinsert the ignition coil and secure it with the 2 bolts.
- Repeat this procedure for all the ignition coils.
- Put the EVAP valve back and the plastic ring.
- Reconnect the coils.
- Put the cover back on the front 3 coils.
- Finish up by starting the car and testing the engine.
