PROBLEMS: Internal exhaust leak, warped block, blown head gasket, overheat damage, poor gas mileage, bubbles in the coolant, rise in coolant level upon starting.

TEST: To determine if you have exhaust gases in your cooling system.

  1. While engine cool remove radiator cap.

  2. Inspect gasket and replace as necessary. Fluid level should be low enough in radiator not to contact test device.

  3. With cap off, start engine. Fluid should be circulating in radiator to begin test.

  4. Follow the instructions in filling the fluid into the tester. Insert tester into radiator neck and pump rubber bulb to draw air/steam from radiator into test chamber with blue fluid for about a minute. If it changes to yellow you’ve got issues. Stays blue there isn’t any combustion gas present during the test.

  5. Turn off engine check to see if fluid level remains the same.
  6. Put on new gasket on radiator cap, reinstall.
